The International Association of Bridges and Structural Engineering (IABSE) is a scientific/technical association comprising members in 100 countries and has 58 national groups worldwide. Founded in 1929, it is headquartered in Zurich, Switzerland
IABSE deals with all aspects of structural engineering: the science and art of planning, design, construction, operation, control and inspection, maintenance, rehabilitation and conservation, demolition and dismantling of structures, taking into account the technical, economic, environmental, aesthetic and social aspects. aspects. The Costa Rican Association of Structural and Seismic Engineering ACIES was founded in 1985, as an independent body of CFIA and the CIC. Currently, ACIES has more than 100 active members. It is domiciled at the headquarters of the College of Civil Engineers, located next to the College of Engineers and Architects, in Curridabat.
Among the main objectives of the ACIES are to promote the improvement of the specialty, ensure the correct exercise of the profession, and disseminate the state of knowledge of structural and seismic engineering.
The Federated College of Engineers and Architects of Costa Rica is the body that regulates the professional work of the different architecture and engineering professionals in the Republic of Costa Rica.
Its mission is to ensure the excellence and decorum of our members, for the development of an efficient, responsible and interdisciplinary professional practice of engineering and architecture, to contribute to the security and sustainable progress of the country.
